Adam Mendrek trounces Ivan Tucakovic in Men’s Singles U19 semi-final at Victor Slovak Junior 2012
Czech Republic’s most productive junior shuttler Adam Mendrek showed a remarkable performance in the arena and landed at title berth after giving a severe lesson to Croatia’s Ivan Tucakovic in semi-final contest at Victor Slovak Junior 2012 in Slovakia,
on Saturday, November 10.
The lofty Mendrek, who has been positioned at number three in Men’s Singles seeding in the championship, showed a great performance on court and emerged as the winner against his higher ranked Croatian challenger in a superb manner.
Mendrek showed a strong character on court as he did not spare any mercy to his opponent throughout the battle and won it in a dominating way with a convincing margin by working hard for just 28 minutes.
On the other hand, the second seeded Tucakovic tried to play dominating badminton but failed to live up to the mark as he could not cope up with the speed of his opponent and went down in straight games without showing a strong performance.
In the first set, the in-form Mendrek played in a tremendous way as he showed aggression in the arena by controlling the pace of rallies.
The hard-to-learn variations in Mendrek’s strokes helped him to continue his superiority against his rival on court.
Mendrek proceeded with a terrific speed in the first part and stayed ahead on the board until the one-minute interval.
The confused Tucakovic failed to create trouble for his rival after the mid-game break as he committed many unforced errors and remained struggling on court.
After the break, the positive and fast play of Mendrek assisted him to claim the opening game with an inspiring margin of 21-17.
In the second set, the under pressure Tucakovic was once again in trouble as he received a severe treatment from his opponent who was quite smooth and aggressive on court.
The cracking smashes and variations kept Mendrek in strong position all the way until the end of one-minute break when he was in lead on the board.
After the interval, the incredible Mendrek continued his comfortable ride without facing any problem and won the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
Mendrek emerged as the winner in this semi-final encounter in straight sets of 28 minutes with a convincing difference of 21-17 and 21-17.
