Atlanta Hawks reach a buyout agreement with Jordan Williams
Jordan Williams made his way to the Atlanta Hawks in the summer as part of the Joe Johnson trade which saw the star forward head to Brooklyn Nets.
The Hawks management however want nothing to do with the 6 ft 10 in power forward and according to recent reports; they have reached an agreement with Williams and his agent in order to buy out his contract. The Hawks will be paying the one year NBA professional $762,000 he was owed as per his contract with the Nets.
The move to let go Williams comes as a surprise because he was one of the key players for the Nets while coming off the bench. He played 43 games last season and held an average of 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game and could have been a valuable reserve for the Hawks.
But the Hawks deem otherwise and have decided to stick with the 11 players they now have on the roster. They do need to have 15 players before the start of new season and the move is probably to create some cap space. They now have the option of inviting even more players to training camp. At the moment, Damion James and James Anderson are set to join the training camp with non-guaranteed contracts.
Adam Morrison to play for the Portland Trail Blazers next season
Adam Morrison, who was originally a third overall pick by the Charlotte Bobcats back in 2006, has agreed to a one year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. The power forward spent two and a half seasons in North Carolina before being traded over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Morrison’s time in Los Angeles was capped off with back to back championships but a serious knee injury prevented him from being a key part of the rotation and was released soon afterwards.
The player spent last season playing for the Turkish outfit Besiktas Milangaz and mustered an average of 11.8 points in the limited playing time of 22 minutes per game. He impresses during the summer camps and showed his intent to stay in USA for the sake of his daughter. Morrison has got his wish and now he will be hoping to start afresh with the Blazers.
