Adam Morrison seeks a return back to America – NBA Update
After playing the last couple of seasons in European countries, Adam Morrison is hoping to return back to the NBA.
The decision to return back to America has come after experiencing the relatively poor living conditions while playing in Serbia.
“Tiny little gyms, old basketballs, just one pair of shoes, do your own laundry ... it’s kind of like being back in college, but even worse,”
The experience was entirely different to what Morrison had been used to while playing in the NBA. He was the number 3 selection in the 2006 draft, but a torn ACL and a lack of playing time, led to his arrival in Serbia – a decision
he has now come to regret.
“Even if I wasn’t an NBA player, just being an American and seeing what other countries and what their definition of poor really is, taught me a lot, I saw how some people live day to day, and it’s like, OK, my problems really
aren’t that bad.” – Morrison
Morrison was so sick of the conditions that he bought out his contract from the Serbian outfit, KK Red Star Belgrade, in order to pursue other playing opportunities across Europe. He went on to sign with the Turkish club Besiktas
but the desire to return back to America still remained at large and led him to represent Brooklyn Nets in the Las Vegas Summer league.
There is still a lot to do before Morrison will be able to ensure a permanent position among the Nets ranks, but the player has vowed to continue working hard and even if he does not get a contract offer worth his value, the inclination
will be to stay in America.
“I don’t know. I’m just going to play hard here and see what happens,” – Morrison
Morrison was able to show some of his talent on Monday when he managed to 10 points in a gem against Orlando Magic.
At the moment, he plans to return to school to complete his degree in management and if an opportunity comes along the way, he will be more than willing to make it count.
