Adam Parr: My resignation was cancelled by Williams’ bosses, still feel responsible – Formula 1
Williams’ CEO, Adam Parr, has revealed that his resignation from the Williams team was cancelled by Williams’ bosses, Frank Williams, Patrick Head and Toto Wolff. Parr added that he still feels guilty about the bad performance of the team in the opening round of the 2011 season.
Adam said that after the start of the 2011 season was not a desired one from Williams’ point of view, he felt guilty and wanted to leave the team, but Frank cancelled his resignation.
Adam said, “Absolutely. I tendered my resignation to Frank [Williams], Patrick [Head] and Toto [Wolff, shareholder]. I am responsible and I took the responsibility to do whatever they wanted to do”.
Talking about his resignation cancellation, Parr said, “They did, yes. But that doesn't mean I don't feel responsible for what happened. I've addressed the whole factory and explained that I am responsible and have apologised for my part in this failure”.
Williams’ team has already made some restructuring to their technical staff as technical director, Sam Michael, and chief aerodynamicist, Jon Tomlinson, have resigned from their duties.
Frank has mentioned that both personals will work for the team until 2011 season is over.
Furthermore, Frank has recruited Mike Coughlan as a chief engineer who will take his position from next month. Mike, the man behind the Spy gate scandal 2007, will try to help the Williams team become a midfielder.
Williams, winner of nine constructors’ championship titles, are fighting for their repute in the 2011 season and so far they have not lived up to the expectations.
2011 season did not kick off the way Williams team would have liked.
Three of the 19 scheduled races are over and Williams are yet to score a point. Their drivers, Rubens Barrichello and Pastor Maldonado, have failed to show any speed and competitiveness against much younger midfield teams like Toro Rosso, Force India and Sauber.
Nevertheless, the next race, The Turkish Grand Prix, is around the corner and will be contested on the 8th of May. It will be interesting to see what positives the new recruit brings in the team.
