Adam Pearson of Hull FC refutes rumours about Richard Agar’s switch to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats
Adam Pearson, the owner of Hull FC, has confirmed on August 8 that the rumours which are floating around about their coach Richard Agar’s departure from Hull FC to join the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are bogus.
The rumour was first discussed in the daily newspaper, which said that Pearson, who has recently taken over as the sole-owner of the Hull FC, on July 22, had offered Agar, the office of the Director of Coaches at Hulls. It was discussed in the paper that
Agar was interested in moving to the Wildcats as their coach, instead of assuming the office proposed by Hulls.
John Kear of Wildcats will step down from his office as the coach of Wildcats by the end of this season which will leave the position open for a new induction.
According to the version which was published in the paper, Agar was approached by Wakefield to take up the available vacancy as their future coach and succeed Kear. Sources have also confirmed that the interview process for this post will begin by the end
of this week and the shortlisted candidates will soon be contacted.
In lieu of the latest developments within Hull, there was no confirmation by the club regarding it. Initially the club was unwilling to respond officially to the rumours that were gaining rave reviews but it was confirmed later that there is not much truth
to it as the management of the club denied the news completely.
It was further added by the Hulls’ top management that the news pertaining to Agar’s quit by the end of the current season is untrue as he is already busy in planning his next season with Hulls.
While speaking about the rumours about Agar’s switch to the rival franchise, Pearson was extremely angry because according to him the rumours are “completely untrue”.
It was added by Hulls’ owner, “The only discussions I have had with Richard Agar have been over the playing squad for next season. There has been no discussion at all about a change of role for Richard or a director of rugby position. All aspects of the
club are being looked at and reviewed, but nothing has changed from the past two weeks.”
Pearson stressed upon the fact that there are no plans of his franchise to change the current roles of any person, be it the change of coach or the director of coaching. It was also, revealed by him that the previous two weeks at the franchise were spent
in planning the upcoming season by Agar himself. This further cemented the fact that none of the aspects that were discussed by the paper are true.
