Adam Scott, Ryan Moore, Keegan Bradley and Rickie Fowler now leading the WGC Bridgestone Invitational
Overnight leader Adam Scott has managed to stay in contention for the summit through the halfway mark of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational after shooting an even-par on the second day. He is now sharing the lead with three strong contenders including Rickie
Fowler, Ryan Moore, and Keegan Bradley with an aggregate of eight-under, 132.
Scott, who managed to equal his career best round on the first day, struggled on the second day, carding two birdies only to lose them on two bogeys.
“Today was a little tougher. I started really solid, but couldn't make anything on the front nine -- my front nine,” said the Australian, who teed off early in the morning and parred his opening 10 holes. Although an even-par will not be helping him to retain
his lead in the proceeding round, Scott insisted that his performance on the second day was satisfactory.
“The last time I shot 62 was probably a long time ago, so am I going to expect to do it two days in a row? I don't think so,” Scott said.
Fowler, Rookie of The Year in 2010, shot an amazing six-under, 64 against his two-under, 68 on the first day to push for his maiden title on the tour. Often regarded as one of the most overrated golfers on the American circuit, Fowler played well in the
Open Championship last month and is eager to keep the run going for the moment.
Moore managed to pull in another four-under, 66 on the second day and will be hoping to continue his surge on the weekend. Jason Day fell for a disappointing round of even-par, 70 on the second day, and currently retains his second spot on the leaderboard
alongside Robert Karlsson and Martin Laird, all carding aggregates of seven-under, 133, one shot behind the lead.
WGC Bridgestone Invitational is one of the events on the PGA Tour that does not have a halfway cut and all of the 78-man field will play till the final round on Sunday irrespective of their performance in the previous rounds. The tournament has a purse of
$8.5-million with a winner’s share of $1.4-million.
