Adam Scott and Jason Dufner tied on the top at Cadillac Championship
Adam Scott and Jason Dufner were tied for the leading position by scoring 66, at the WGC-Cadillac Championship on Thursday, March 8, 2012.
The 31-year-old Australian, Scott, had scored a 6-under par and 66 strokes in total. His impressive score was matched by the 34-year-old American professional, Dufner.
The sensational World Golf Championship is in progress at the TPC Blue Monster, Doral Miami, in Florida.
All the players are striving for the purse of $8,500,000, out of which, the winner will earn handsome figures of $1,400,000.
Scott scored five massive birdies and an eagle as well. He only carded one bogey and amazingly finished the round on the top.
Another interesting fact is that he passed the 18th final hole of the day at par, which is the most difficult hole of the TPC Blue Monster.
"When you're in the fairway on a day like today, you get a chance to hit it somewhere near the hole, give yourself an opportunity," Scott said after finishing on the top.
He added, "If you're in the rough, it's very hard to even just hit the green, let alone give yourself a chance. I took advantage of the good shots early on, and then battled by way in from there".
Similarly, Dufner also scored seven impressive birdies, but he was unable to score well on the final toughest hole.
He carded a bogey on the 18th and was tied with the Australian for the first position of the leaderboard. "A lot easier to finish on nine than 18," Dufner said.
The tournament is gaining more viewership, as the world No. 11 and 41 are on the potential lead.
They defeated the top three ranked players, Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood in the first round impressively.
The Northern Irish McIlroy is playing his first tournament as the world No. 1 player. He was average on the course and struggled while scoring till the day end.
He scored a 1-over 73 and finished the round on the 35th position. He was unable to repeat his leading scoring average in Florida.
The world No. 2 Donald finished on the 13th position by scoring a 2-under 70. Similarly, the world No. 3 Westwood finished on the 64th position by 4-over 76.
Scott and Dufner's scoring is making the tournament more interesting and competitive. Their several under pars helped them lead over these three top leaders, at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.
