Adam Scott keen to increase his Asian Tour victory count at Ballantine’s Championship in Korea in April
Stakes are running high on the Asian turf as the season dwells into mainstream titles including the upcoming Ballantine’s Championship in Korea.
Australian ace golfer Adam Scott is all set to challenge the strong line-up this year and is hoping to re-ignite his blazing form on the Asian turf.
Scott has four Asian titles on his belt among a whooping 18 professional wins so far. He most certainly knows his way around the windy, temperate Asian courses, though this one will be a little colder as it lies in Korea.
For the moment, Scott boost of excellent form and has just closed an inspiring season last year where he finished joint runner-up behind Charl Schwartzel in the Masters and went over to bag the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on PGA.
Scott said, “I’m really looking forward to getting back to Korea and playing in the Ballantine’s Championship. It’s been a long time since I played in Korea – I think 2002 was my last visit – so it is certainly time for me to go back and hopefully challenge
for a championship”.
Like many of the visiting European Tour players including the likes of Lee Westwood, Scott lauded the quality of the course at Blackstone Golf Club in Korea and hailed Asia as the next powerhouse of the sport in the world.
He added, “From what I’ve heard, everything about the Ballantine’s Championship in Korea is just like their product - it is of the highest calibre. Everything they do, from the way the players are treated to the overall experience for the fans, is first
rate”.
So far, Scott has not been able to bag a title in the current season and is hoping to break his winless streak before heading in the mainstream major events.
He will be heading into the Masters early next month and will finally land in Korea to start off his bid for the Ballantine’s Championship scheduled from April 26-29.
Scott’s most Asian victories have come in Singapore where he has clinched the Singapore Open title for no less than three times.
The event is co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian Tour and is likely to have one of the strongest fields in any of the Asian Tour events.
