Adam Scott lauds Korean players including 2009 PGA Champion Y. E Yang and Seung-Yul Noh
World number nine Australian Adam Scott will be heading to the star-studded Ballantine’s Championship right after his bid in the first major event of the year, The Masters at Augusta National next month.
Scott has encountered amazing success on the Asian turf in his career and besides being a fan of the sprawling Asian courses, the Aussie lauds the immense progress Asian golf has made in the last decade.
He particularly hailed the performance of Korean players of the likes of Y. E Yang, Seung-yul Noh, and K.J Choi and predicted the rise of Asian golf in the next decade.
Scott said, “Golf is growing fast globally and certainly in Asia. Obviously YE Yang winning a Major Championship was a big coup and they also have young guys like Noh (Seung-yul), who is an exceptional talent and who is going to be a world beater one day.
The sport is growing fast in Korea, it’s getting a lot of support”.
The 31-year-old Aussie has won no fewer than four titles on the Asian Tour among his 18 professional victories in the last one decade.
Turning professional in the year 2000, Scott has gone over to win coveted titles like the Players Championship in 2004, The Tour Championship in 2006, Shell Houston Open in 2007, Gleneagles Scottish PGA Championship in 2002 and many others in his stellar
career.
He is still waiting for his first major victory and has come close to lifting the title last year when he was overtaken by Charl Schwartzel in the final round of the Masters.
Scott particularly spoke high of the 2009 PGA Champion Yang and regarded him as the best thing Asia has offered in the past decade.
He added, “YE Yang is a real professional who works very hard. He has a fantastic short game and is a very consistent ball striker. He is a fantastic golfer and he has a lot more good golf ahead of him for sure”.
Scott will be hoping to land the Ballantine’s Championship title next month, in a bid to continue his winning streak.
He won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational last year and is supported by Tiger Woods’ former caddie Steve Williams on the bag and has been drawing immense help from the veteran.
