Adam Scott leads the third round of Bridgestone Invitational with Jason Day on the chase
Adam Scott smashed a score of four-under-par in the third round of the World Golf Championship Bridgestone Invitational, to take a one-stroke lead over Ryo Ishikawa and Jason Day. The final event of the four-legged series is taking place at the par-70 Firestone
Country Club.
Scott chose to tee off from the front and marveled the crowd with his accurate strokes and persistent game plan. The Aussie roamed around with Steve Williams and his extra long putter making waves at the South Course. He carded two birdies at the front against
a bogey and wrapped it at par.
Similar action was seen on the back, as the 31-year-old bogeyed the opening hole at the back and then proceeded further to reel three back-to-back birdies starting from the par-4, 14th. He picked one more point and sealed the day in the lead.
This is the first time in the Aussie’s career that he has maintained a three-day lead in a tournament. It is either the course or Williams that has filled the player with loads of confidence.
Enthusiastic about his new caddie, Scott told the press, “Well, the obvious stuff is the years of experience and everything. But whenever you make a change in caddie or coach or anything, there's certainly a bit of enthusiasm and a bit of motivation. He's
a very positive guy.”
Scott went on to add, “He's very confident in the way he caddies, and I think that's good for me, keep myself confident out there and on the front foot being aggressive because that's the way I play my best golf. So I think we seem to be a pretty good match.”
Meanwhile, Day, who is the second Aussie leading the field, carded four birdies and one eagle against two bogeys to match Scott’s score. The player faced problem in driving accuracy; he relished a success rate of 43 percent in it, which meant that he found
only six fairways out of 14. Despite that, he overcame the shortfall through his putting, which was solid.
Never before has an Aussie won a tournament on the professional tour outside Australia on American soil and there won’t be a better chance for Scott, or Day, to change all that.
