Adam Scott makes a decent start at the BMW Championship
Adam Scott put up a decent show of golfing skills to finish round one of the BMW Championship, at Crooked Stick Golf Club, four shots behind the leaders. The Australian shot a 4-under 68, which is a decent enough score to finish round one at T16.
His position could have been better if he knew the course well. Due to the rain, players hardly got time to practise on the course.
The best Adam managed was just a round of 10 holes but now that he knows the course, people expect a strong performance from him in the upcoming rounds.
Rory McIlroy, once again, showed his class, as he shot a magnificent 8-under 64. Along with him, Webb Simpson, Bo Van Pelt and Graham DeLaet are leading the championship after round one.
The conditions were so favourable that there were only 10 players who finished over par. McIlroy is chasing his fourth title of the year and if he pulls of a victory, then it would be his third victory in four starts.
Not knowing the back nine holes in the end proved costly for the Australian. He was going along smoothly until the 16th. By the time the Queenslander reached the 16th hole, he was 6-under and going along comfortably.
However, he three putted on the sixteenth and dropped his first shot of the day due to his misjudgment of the slope.
"I only played 10 holes in practice so it was a bit of a lottery for me after that," Scott said. "Now I am familiar with those holes hopefully I'll come home a little better tomorrow".
Scott feels that this birdie blitz as seen on the first day will continue over the next three days as well due to the weather conditions.
"I played good and I am somewhat in touch. It is just going to be a birdie-fest all week so hopefully the putter can get really hot for the next three days," he said.
Adam knows the task that lay ahead of him. He knows that he will have to shoot some low sores.
“It's going to be a low score again for the winner so I am going to have to at least have mid 60s twice, which is a bit of a daunting task, but I'm paying well so I'm confident I can get amongst it”.
