Adam Scott named Australian player of the Year

The Australian player Adam Scott is named the Australian Golf Digest Player of the Year for the fifth time after an amazing season in 2010. Winning on three different tours, Scott has truly earned this award. Last year, it appeared that Adam was digressing
from his amazing game as he dropped from his career high number third rank to finish in the outside top fifty.
Over the previous year, the 30 year old has found his form and started winning tournaments. The event that started his journey to the top was the Australian Open. Last year, Scott won the Australian Open by five strokes clear of Stuart Appleby. He posted
an even par 72 on Sunday and attained his first win on his homeland. Scott really needed this win since he was having the worst PGA season so far. Before his win in the Australian Open, he only made 19 cuts in PGA tournaments and only one top-10 finish. Scott
will defend his title at the Australian Open which is scheduled to start on December 2nd at the Lakes Golf Club in Sydney.
Following the victory down under, Scott was triumphant at the US PGA Tour’s Texas Open. Playing that tournament, Scott had said that he has a feeling that the Aussies would do well here this week. Scott posted an 11 under in a 36 hole at the Sunday finale
and beat Fredrik Jacobson. He won by only one stroke at the new Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. This was his first PGA win since the 2008 Byron Nelson Classic.
Just recently, Scott attained his seventh European Tour title when he won the Singapore Open. This was the Australian player’s third win in the Singapore Open. He posted a 3-under-par 68 for a three-stroke victory over Anders Hansen of Denmark. Achieving
his dream victory at the Sentosa Golf Club, Scott really finished the season on a good note by taking the Singapore Open title. Scott’s previous win on the European Tour was the Qatar Masters in 2008.
Along with three wins, Scott also has decent finishes in the tournaments he played. Adam had three other top ten finishes which thus contributed to his earnings of $2.5 million on the USPGA Tour this season.  Scott tied for ninth place at the WGC Bridgestone
Invitational and at the Barclays.  He played even better at the Deutsche Bank Championship where he tied for fifth place. This charismatic golfer has managed to make his way back into the world’s top twenty, as he stands on number nineteen right now.
The Australian Golf digest editor, Steve Keipert, said that he had a hard time deciding who the player of the year would be. It was hard for him to not notice Scott’s amazing season.
"A lot of people were wondering if Adam was going to fade away not so long back," Keipert said."But he's shown he has the application and determination to back up that amazing talent and three significant victories -- on three different tours -- just can't
be ignored."
Winning on three different tours and being the player for the fifth time, the 30 year old is feeling on top of the world. With the Australian Open coming ahead, Scott has warned all his rivals. Being on the peak of his career, Adam will surely try all his
best to keep the Stonehaven Cup that he stole from his idol Greg Norman just twelve months ago.
When talking about his year, Adam said that it has been great. The way he played was amazing and he felt very comfortable. Even though he does think that he needs to improve his putting, Scott feels like he’s been moving forward all year.
Winning an accolade as the player of the year award has really boosted Adam Scott’s spirit and now with all the confidence and passion instilled in him, Scott cannot wait to tee off at the Australian Open.
