Adam Scott ready for title defence at Valero Texas Open – PGA Tour News
Australia’s top ranked golfer, Adam Scott will be looking for title defence at the Valero Texas Open. The four-day tournament will be played at the par-72, AT&T Course in Texas and will tee off today. The event will certainly produce some under par rounds
as the course in immaculate shape.
Scott, who recently played excellent golf at the Masters, is hoping to give a same performance this week. He has been playing on the PGA Tour since quite a while now. The Aussie knows about the course conditions and is confident of making it through to the
final round to defend his title.
It was last year where he managed to win, but did not finish on a high note. He had a bogey on the final hole and lifted the championship trophy. Scott won by a mere margin of just one shot over Swede Fredrik Jacobson.
The 30-year-old played promising golf during the Masters as he finished tied for the second spot. He was tied with his compatriot Jason day and was only two behind the champion.
As Scott was in good form during the Masters, he is hoping to continue his birdie streak going in this tournament also. It was his broom putter which helped him hold putts on the fast greens at Augusta National.
Scott in his recent interview said, "I was not happy that I pulled a shot at a critical point here on Sunday last year, and that could have potentially cost me the tournament. Finally, I hit a great half shot into the 16th at Augusta on Sunday. Hopefully
something to build on there at Augusta, even though it wasn't the result I wanted in the end, especially late on Sunday when I thought I was right in with a good chance, very close."
Adam went through the ups and downs in his career since he started. He was out of form during the past couple of months but certainly has shown signs of improvement. There are a total of seven PGA Tour victories in his career up till now. His last victory
came in this tournament.
The season of 2009 did not prove out to be a good one for him as he lost his rankings.
Now, Scott has practiced hard on his game which has improved a lot. The change of his putter has surely helped him hold more putts on the greens. His coach, Brad Malone, has helped him improve his game and putting.
After finishing tied second at the Masters, he also improved his rankings from 30th to the 17th. If he continues to play like this, there are high chances that he might move among the top ten in the world.
Scott is pretty much confident about the momentum in his swing and is hoping to win his eight PGA Tour victory.
