Adam Scott rests before competing in PGA Championship
The winner of Bridgestone Invitational, Adam Scott says that he will take rest before competing in the US PGA Championship, which is the last major of the season.
Scott made a statement during the press conference held on Monday in Atlanta. The 31-year-old said, “There's always going to be a little energy letdown because being in contention can take a lot out of you mentally and physically. I think it's important
that I have a quiet few days before Thursday so I can be ready to roll and 100 per cent focused on putting in a great first round. The plan is to be aggressive from the start again.”
Freshly crowned winner on the PGA circuit, Scott won his debut World Golf Championship on last Sunday with a four-stroke lead over Rickie Fowler and Luke Donald. He led the field in all four rounds, a fact clearly indicating his superb run of form in the
tournament.
Credit must also go to Scott’s new, and Tiger Woods’ former, caddie Steve Williams. Williams shined throughout the four-day event with his invaluable advice on a number of occasions, and most of the times he was spot on.
However, before packing bags for Atlanta Athletic Club, where the PGA Championship is scheduled, the Aussie believes he needs to relax at home rather than do practice rounds. He stressed that Atlanta had the toughest rough of the region, which would test
the patience of all the participating players. Therefore, it was mandatory that the players prepared themselves mentally by keeping their minds off golf for some time.
Scott went on to add, “The rough will be up so giving yourself chances from the fairway is important. Getting the ball in play and then picking your aggressive moments is the key.”
Scott opted for an aggressive play during the tournament. He attacked pins from a great distance, which worked for him. The Aussie aims to approach the greens in an aggressive style, as he thinks it works for him. In addition to that, he plans to take the
lead right from the front, the way he did during the Bridgestone Invitational.
