Adam Scott takes second spot after the second round of Cadillac Championship – Golf News
Adam Scott, who had a lead in the opening round of the World Golf Championships – Cadillac Championship, managed to score a four-under par 68 in the second round to take the third spot on the leaderboard on Friday, March 9, 2012.
Scott made a total of seven birdies against a bogey and a double-bogey each to finish two strokes off the lead set by Bubba Watson. The latter had a spectacular round of 10-under par 62.
It was interesting to watch Scott bouncing back from the double-bogey that he made on par-five eight after finding the bunker twice and then the lake on the course.
According to the golf analysts, Scott was seen using a totally different approach as he used to falter after such incidents in the past.
This time, he recovered amazingly by scoring four-under par on his back nine.
He himself admitted that he could not have performed that way in the past, as he always struggled to make a quick comeback in the rounds that saw him making a couple of bad shots.
He said that he remained confident and did not let his double-bogey conquer his mind.
That was the major reason behind him remaining in contention for the top position while entering the final 36 holes of the event.
"Maybe I wouldn't have bounced back in the past," he said. "But my whole mindset for the game is really good at the moment and I am very content with everything I am doing".
"I am certainly a mature golfer these days," he continued. "I have a lot of experience and it's happened to me a million times. I know I had 10 holes to play which means 10 opportunities to look at".
He further added, "When you're playing well you can't let a hiccup affect you because if I did we'd have a knock on affect and I'd end up at three under. Then I've got nothing out of the week and feel like I'm not playing well when I really am".
Meanwhile, Justin Rose, who partnered Watson in a group, also had a spectacular show on the course.
He carded eight birdies in his round to take the second position on the leaderboard. He was one shot ahead of Scott.
