Adam Scott upbeat about his return to the Barclays Singapore Open
The world number six Adam Scott is confident to continue his great form in the Barclays Singapore Open, when he tees off at the Sentosa Golf Club, on November 8, 2012.
The Australian is ready to face some of the best players in the world like the four-time major champion Phil Mickelson and the world number one Rory McIlroy.
Scott is regarded as the most successful player in the history of the tournament, as he won the tournament in 2005, 2006 and 2010.
In addition to that, he also has two third-place finishes in the tournament registered to his name. The first one came in 2007 and the second one in 2009.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, he stated that he likes the layout of the venue course, which suits his style of playing golf. That is the major reason behind his success in the $6 million tournament.
“Well, if I really knew the answer the two third place finishes would have been victories,” he joked. “I guess it is just a golf course that suits my style of play and so I am always playing shots that feel natural to me”.
He added, “(My three wins) were all satisfying for different reasons. I think most satisfying will be number four in 2012”.
Last year, the tournament was held without a defending champion in the field. The Barclays Singapore Open and the Australian Open were scheduled in the same week last year.
Therefore, Scott chose his local event over the Singapore Open and missed out on the chance of defending his title.
This year, he is pleased to be back at the same venue that added plenty of success to his resume.
“It’s true that there are always good feelings for me at Sentosa,” he said. “I like the golf course, the members have always been great to me and I like Singapore. That’s a good recipe”.
Right from the beginning of the 2012 golf season, the Australian has been playing really well and came close to victories a number of times.
However, he was unlucky not to taste success. He now plans to turn his average year into a great year with a victory at the Sentosa Golf Club.
