Adam Scott wishes to finish his winning drought in the 2012 golf season
Adam Scott, who missed out on the chance of winning The Open Championship after his final-round meltdown, is desperate to end his winless season on a high note, when he tees off this week at the Australian Masters.
The PGA Tour of Australasia event will be played at the Kingston Heath Golf Club, featuring some of the prominent names on the tour.
Scott has enjoyed a great run of form this season, recording a total of nine top-10 finishes, collectively on the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
However, that was not what he wanted from his campaign this season. Despite coming close to victories a number of times, he always had to settle behind the leaders.
The most disastrous moment came when he entered the last four holes at The Open Champion, with a four-stroke lead over his competitors.
However, he failed to hold on to his nerves and bogeyed each of the remaining holes to hand over the victory to Ernie Els.
Talking to the reporters on Wednesday, Scott told that The Open Championship ghosts are no more haunting him and he feels ready to add another accolade to his resume this week.
"I enjoyed the whole (British Open) experience thoroughly and, looking back, I just take so many positives from what I did right that week," Scott told reporters at Kingston Heath Golf.
"Obviously the result was not what I was expecting with an hour or so to play, but there's always going to be a lesson to be learned from that”.
"I don't think it's harmed me at all. I think it was a great experience and all I can say, it's more of a motivator than anything for me to get back and have another shot at it,” added the 2005 PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit winner.
Last week, he finished tied for the fifth position at the European Tour and the Asian Tour sanctioned event, the Barclays Singapore Open.
This week, he plans to keep the momentum going into the Australian Masters and take home the third PGA Tour of Australasia title of his career.
