Adam Wilk open to return to Detroit Tigers – MLB Special
The Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Adam Wilk is quite hopeful that he will return to Major League Baseball soon in the coming future. Wilk is a talented individual as his contract has recently been sold to a Korean baseball team for one year.
"The Tigers are a great organization and my time with them was great, This is not to say that the door to the Tigers is closed, I am taking this opportunity to the fullest and I will see where it takes me," Wilk said Wednesday via email and tried to describe
his feelings on this recent development.
During his e-mail message to Tigers fan, he stated clearly that he will not mind playing for Detroit again in the near future. The Tigers after a brief evaluation report decided to send Wilk into Korean League to increase some fire power in his offensive
stance. Wilk now will play for the NC Dinos for at-least one year.
“I think this time is the right time for me to go over to Korea and pitch there this year, The Tigers' rotation is very strong at this point, and I feel that if I can pitch regularly in Korea I would have an opportunity to showcase myself off for the right
team in the following years," Wilk said and explained about his trade to a Korean team.
Adam Wilk was slight wayward on the mound in the last Major League Baseball season. He finished with 8.18 ERA along with 0-3 win-loss, seven strikeouts and 2.18 WHIP.
On the other hand, his career stats are also not much impressive as he currently stands on his career ERA of 6.66 along with 0-3 win-loss, 17 strikeouts and 1.68 WHIP.
Wilk was drafted by the Tigers in 2009 Major League Baseball draft and since then never played consistently in their franchise.
Some say the Tigers did a good job sending him away in another professional league. Though they could have sent him into any of their Minor League affiliates, but somehow the Detroit management considered more appropriate for Wilk to play in the NC Dinos.
