Stoke City midfielder, Charlie Adam, has turned down the notion that his side can take a breather after having played out their games against the top-flight teams.
The English International was of the opinion that teams cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal against any opposition. Instead, he insisted that their upcoming fixtures carried even more importance, as it will present them with an opportunity to
gain ground on their rival teams.

However, on the positive side, their upcoming games are of less severe nature, as they have already played their games against the last season’s top-four.
Stoke will next play host to Sunderland on Saturday, and have got relatively easy set of fixtures over the coming months.
Nonetheless, the 26-year old urged his side to up the tempo by playing with more vigour, rather than falling into the trap of becoming complacent.
He admitted to Potters difficult start to the term, but feels that the results against the opponents who match their size and stature are going to decide where they end up in the table.
“There's no reason why we should be complacent. And certainly not if we want to build on what we have done so far this season and what the club did last year,” he told the reporters.
“It's great to play at places like Manchester United, but they are not the games that decide your season. It's games against the likes of Sunderland that are going to influence where we finish.”
Stoke were hammered 4-2 in their previous game by the Red Devils at Old Trafford, despite claiming an early lead.
Commenting on the match, Adam rued their defensive collapse and believed it to be the reason behind their defeat.
He observed that his side put up a spirited show in the first half but could not keep the tempo after the break.
“Overall we are disappointed by the goals we conceded. In that second half they had the quality to kill us off,” he added.
