Hello

Recently I've brought a 1gig Corsair RAM and installed it onto my computer making it a total of 1.5gigs including the 512 currently on my system and boot up my computer PC and see its still the same (512mb). I used a anti static wraist when inserting the ram so I couldnt have fried it. The ram is 677mhz and it says in my computer manual that it supports up to 800mhz. Is the RAM faulty?

  1. Make sure that the RAM is in the correct slot. You will have 2 or 4 slots and they should be color coded. 2 black, 2 blue or whatever colors are in your Motherboard.

Make sure that the ram you just installed matches the stuff that you had in your computer, speed, voltage, latency.

    Click on start\All Programs\Accessories\system tools\system information

Look at your total physical memory should say 1,512 or somewhere along those lines. Hopes this helps, i installed my Ram with my bare hands and it works great !

  2. RAMs with different speeds work on some mother boards and don't work on others. Try these:

    1) Check if the RAM is detected in BIOS and see if the BIOS provides auto configure option.

    2) Try swapping/changing slots. If your system has 4 slots for RAM, try installing RAM in slots 1 and 3.

    3) Try removing 512 MB stick and boot your computer using the 1 GB stick.

  3. normally there is an error message attached if a ram is faulty.   is it the right ram for your motherboard?

  4. Take out the 512 one and just put the 1gig in its place, you will be well pleased with the performance, it happened to me, even the computer shop was baffled why it wouldnt work

  5. I think the both of ram are not supported each other. you says that the recent ram 677 mhz fsb. check also the old ram installed the same fsb which is in your old ram. means if the old ram of 500 fsb then you must be installed the new ram of 500 hundred fsb
