I am an ADD and have been taking adderal for about 2 years. Lately i have not been taking once a day like i should(since it is summer) and take it like once a week. The last several times i have been taking it i noticed and increase in heart rate. I understand this is a normal side effect but i have never noticed it before. Is this bad. I cant do my summer reading with this advanced heart rate beating.

I take a 30 mg dose and im 15 years old

  1. Since you cut back, it's likely that you'd experience some of the standard side effects as you increase your dose.  An increased heart rate is expected with this medication since it is "speed."  You likely never noticed it before because you were too young to care or a gradual increase in dose when you were first put on it caused you to not notice the side effects.

Once you're on the regular dose of 30mg daily, take it every day.  After about a week or two, you shouldn't notice the increased heart rate that much.  If you still notice it, ask your doctor as it may be a sign of a more serious complication.
