Question:

Adderall and anxiety

I was recently diagnosed with adult ADD. I have OCD, and also panic attacks. I take valium and sometimes xanax for the panic.

I have been a lot more anxious on the adderall, and had to take a bit more xanax for anxiety. And I also notice that I clench my teeth a lot now. I also observed that my blood pressure is now much higher.(when I go to the drug store and you can test yourself). Like 144/98. Before I took Adderall I had normal levels that were always under 140/90. Is it worth taking this drug or should I try another stimulant? I also find myself a lot more irritable on adderall and wonder if ritalin or another ADD drug might work better w/ less side effects?

Any advice is helpful

  2. There's a type of ADD called "Overfocused ADD" (by Dr. Daniel Amen). The difference between this type of ADD and OCD is that those with OCD have clear obsessive thoughts and/or compulsive behaviors, such as repetitively checking locks or hand washing. They have to have things a certain way and are prone to compulsive cleanliness... but they generally do not have the core ADD symptoms. On the contrary, they're often over organized, always on time, never say something impulsively, and must follow through with every task.

Those with Overfocused ADD, on the other hand, have a long history of a short attention span, poor follow-through, distractability, and spotty organization. There's a brief description of this type of ADD here: http://www.second-hand-news.com/overfocu...

Dr. Amen says that his drug of choice for Overfocused ADD is Effexor. Have you tried it?

  3. Oh God! Change your doctor please!!!

If you were truly ADD, then the Adderall would have an opposite effect and make feel calmer. You wouldn't need anti-anxiety pills. The fact that it increases the anxiety means either you are taking too much or you are not ADD.

I had overwhelming anxiety. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda.

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. The package doesn't have to say Splenda to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might still be using it and don't even know it!

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia and more.

Go ahead, google: anxiety splenda or anxiety sucralose or insomnia splenda or insomnia sucralose

The slogan, "Made from sugar..." is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air
