Question:

Adderall and parents?

I got an 20mg adderall pill from a friend today, and took it during school.

I don't think i have ever been able to concentrate so well as i was today. To be blunt, i kicked a$$ at school today. I can only imagine the possibility's if i were to be like that everyday.

Anyway.. My question is, how should i approach my parents about getting me a prescription for this?

From what i understand, if you dont have ADD/ADHD, this pill has opposite effects and produces more of a body high.. which i didn't experience.. so my guess would be i have adhd, as i have problem calming down, and have a pretty small attention span.

So how can i bring this up with my parents?

-a way that would possibly make it sound better that i took my friends Rx pills.

  1. Please don't do that again!  You could have really screwed up your heart by taking Adderall if you didn't need it.

My daughter was on Ritalin and Adderall for years, bigtime doses.  It kept her calmer than if she didn't take it, but it's not a cure all.  And it turns out that many kids who respond well to adderall and ritalin are actually sleep-deprived, not hyper.

Either way, talk to your folks and ask them to make an appt with your doctor to get evaluated for add/adhd.  Based on the little info you gave, I don't think you are add/adhd, but there is probably something else going on that could be corrected so you can do great in school every day.

    Good luck.

  2. Do you really want to s***w up your head ?? You have not got anything wrong with you so dont be the cause of something going wrong out of sheer stupidity ... It does not give you an opposite effect its a drug that will effect some different to others depending on how your mind/body processes it.  You are just messing around with drugs !! stop being a lemming and read some proper information about what goes on with Adderall before you ruin your life ...

Millions of children in North America are diagnosed with attention deficit/heractivity disorder and treated with psychostimulants such as methylphenidate, dextroamphetamine, and methamphetamine. These drugs produce a continuum of central nervous system toxicity that begins with increased energy, hyperalertness, and overfocusing on rote activities. It progresses toward obsessive/compulsive or perseverative activities, insomnia, agitation, hypomania, mania, and sometimes seizures. They also commonly result in apathy, social withdrawal, emotional depression, and docility. Psychostimulants also cause physical withdrawal, including rebound and dependence. They inhibit growth, and produce various cerebral dysfunctions, some of which can become irreversible.

The 'therapeutic' effects of stimulants are a direct expression of their toxicity. Animal and human research indicatinos that these drugs often suppress spontaneous and social behaviours while promoting obsessive/compulsive behaviors. These adverse drug effects make the psychostimulants seemingly useful for controlling the behavior of children, especially in highly structured environments that do not attend to their genuine needs.
