I don't know what it is about it, but I can't seem to get off, even when I want to... how can I manage my time better and to only spend about an hour or so online in a day?

  1. Umm.  This usually goes away after a day.

  2. maybe......

  3. i guess,

plan some time with friends,& get on an hour earlier before they come over.

  4. im not sure if you are addicted or anything but i have an idea that might help...

during college exam time, i found myself going on facebook a lot just to avoid studying. so, i had my best friend go in and change my password and i told her not to tell me the password until exams were over (no matter how much i begged lol).

This could work for you if you have a trustworthy friend to change the password for you so you go on less.

    good luck!!

  5. read harry potter.

  6. I was in a similar situation when I first got my Facebook account. You'll get bored eventually. But if you really don't want to spend too much time, then tell yourself, "I have a life. And my life isn't about spending time on Facebook."

  7. All of the suggestions above seem very reasonable, but if you really have a problem managing your Facebook time, have your parents or a sibling change your Facebook password without telling you what it is. Tell them to keep the password a secret for a whole week. Hopefully, you’ll figure out that you can do more useful and exciting things with your time without constantly being on Facebook. This exercise is about showing you that you can live without it, and still have fun…but in a different, better, healthier way! Ideally, this habit will carry into your everyday life, helping you manage your Facebook time better. Make sure that whoever knows the password checks up on you—just in case you decide to press ‘Forgot Password’, and upon entering your e-mail, you reset your password.

This could even be an exercise to keep you off your computer in general. So, you may want the password to be for your computer profile account…not just Facebook.

Best wishes, good luck, and I hope that this helps!

  8. Two ways to handle the situation. A reward system, or a punishment system.

the reward system works like this: you do your chores or homework, then you get 30 minuets on facebook or something

the punishment system: you miss an assignment you get 10 minuets taken off (do you get it?)

that stuff usualy works if you stick to it for about a week then you get used to it!

    hope i helped!

  9. i really force my self to leave the computer off. facebook is SO addicting. I also had to deactivate my account durring exams. it really helps. honestly if you dont have a really valid reason for having one its even good to get rid of it.

  10. go see a movie or something. get your mind off of it

  11. Interact with your friends face to face, plan a movie hang out tim (theatre or home), go swimming go to the park etc...

Yu'll still get the social interaction that draws you to facebook, but it'll be wireless and cordless and free of facebook!

  12. Run five miles a day it's incredibly joyful

  13. Get out more. Do something creative instead and maybe set aside times when you can use the computer, like 15 minutes in the morning, half an hour in the evening. Keep track of time and when you think you've been online too long just shut down the computer, it might be hard but just tell yourself that you're a loser for going online so much! Or just delete your facebook for a while (you can leave facebook and it keeps all you details and wall posts etc. just have to reactivate it.)

  14. get a hobby, out side, rearrange to hang out with some friends, just anything to do thats away from a computer!!

  15. Haha.....we always joke about being addicted to Facebook but it's interesting to see someone actually concerned about it. Since there's nothing you can uninstall, your safest bet is to spend less time on the computer altogether.

  16. go out with ur friends go outside doo something fun instead of being on the cmputer 24hrs arrange plans with ur friends

  17. Only do it after your other chores are done.  You find that it looses importance when the bed is calling you and you are ready for the next day.

  18. Use it as motivation to complete other tasks.  In other words, make it a reward for doing something constructive.  Lets face it, we have lots of free time to waste since we do not have to hunt and all that BS...just don't become addicted to something that is completely unproductive.

  19. Check into an addiction rehab center.
