I have been addicted to sleeping pills since I was young.. as young as 13. I am 21 now.

Now, im not talking prescription sleeping pills either. Im talking about over the counter sleeping pills and sometimes prescription but rarely.

I take triple doses and sometimes more.

As stupid as it is and even though I know its stupid I CANT STOP.

Im so dependant on them

I ask ppl to help me stop and they all say JUST STOP. Its not that easy and they just dont get it.

Can u give me some tips on how to stop taking them and getting into a normal sleep cycle again.

Thank You.

  1. I take them everyday not cause I'm addicted but, because I have to, I have severe allergies. This winter I'll probably stop them, and I know it'll be easy.

Try exercising during the evening till you get tired and have ta sleep, stay busy during the day and stop buying them will also be a help.

  2. Try to have double doses instead of triple. No matter how much it pains you, stick to double. Then after about a month, do regular doses. Then, try to stop. it will be a lot easier.

  3. try to keep yourself occupied and don't think about the sleeping pills.i used to be addicted to watching my favorite show before going to sleep.

they didnt show it one day and i couldent sleep but after that i was able to sleep well agian.

so try not to take a pill for a day and maybe the next day.

    --good lucks to you-- ^_^

  4. I take Melatonin, I used to fly a lot, and it really helped me to go to sleep!

It regulates your sleep cycle, I take 12 mg.

Also it is natural, and not addictive and a great anti oxidants, and anti cancer!

Thanks for your quick help with my computer problems, [appreciate it!

  5. Like you've said, it's an addiction. It's very hard and require lots of determination to quit taking. You may need 6 mths to a year to get back to normal sleep cycle.

Someone I knew took a night shift job for a year(at the airport or 24hrs convenience stall)..your body require time to get rid of the urge..try to find things to keep you busy. Get support from your friends and someone close to you.

    I'll pray for you.
