Question:

Adding 3/4 bath to a finished attic - approx cost?

I am buying a house with a finished attic. Wiring, drywall, insulation, etc. already up there. I would ideally like to add a 3/4 bath. Do not have rough in for plumbing there, so that would have to be added. Any idea on how much (approx) this will cost me to add a bath up there, given approx 10-15 feet to tap into bathroom on the floor below it? I am in the mid-atlantic region.

Thanks

  1. if u look around for a handy man I am sure u can get it done for around 2500.00 to 3,000.00....I'm a handy man and I do it for that much...

  2. $79,000.00

  3. Adding a bath is a big expense.  Believe me, you may have all the wiring in, but mark my words.....something will need to be added.  Putting in plumbing is another area that you will run into problems.  You can't just tap into the bathroom below.  You may need extra piping to get to the main.  Cost could run from $5,000 - $10,000.  Find more than one contractor and get quotes.
