  1. The easiest (and fastest way) besides converting the denominators using the LCM is to cross multiply:

    4/3+1/2

    (4*2)+(3*1)/(3*2)

    8+3

    -----=11/6

    6

    A nifty trick indeed.

Best of luck and hope I could help!

    x

step by step help with this- hope it helps!

  3. to add 4/3 to 1/2 you need the same denominator. It needs to be the lowest number that both 3 and 2 will divide into.  3 x 2 = 6 This is the lowest number.

Because you multiplied 3 by 2 you must also multiply 4 by 2.

Your fraction 4/3 is now 8/6 (it is still the same value)

    Multiply out the 2nd fraction

Because you multiplied 2 by 3 you must multiply 1 by 3

Your fraction here 1/2 becomes 3/6 (also still the same value)

    So 4/3 + 1/2 = 8/6 + 3/6 = 11/6 or 1 5/6

  4. 4/3+1/2

    first take its lcm =6,now 3*2=6so 4*2=8 and  2*3=6 so1*3=3 adding numerators =8+3/6=11/6=answer

  5. you have to make the denominators equal.

Find a number that you can multiply by to mak them equal

With 4/3 multiply it by 2/2 (which is just 1) giving 8/6

With 1/2 multiply it by 3/3 (which is just 1) giving 3/6

Now you can add the fractions, giving 11/6

  6. To add fractions with different denominators you have to find a common multiple and than add.  For your example 4/3 + 1/2 you can make do with any common denominator but I suggest the LCM or least common multiple. So the least common multiple is 6 because 2*3 is 6 and 3*2 is also 6.  Now whatever you do with the denominator you have to do the same to the numerator. So 4*2 is 8 which makes 4/3=8/6 and 1/2=3/6. 8/6 + 3/6 is 11/6 theres your answer. If you need any more help look it up on google.
