i just got a new 3 week old piggie and a big new cage with new stuff. i put the 2 males into the new territory and then put the baby in. the older active male, coco, seemed to be but sniffing and nugging the baby's but, and i read that's ok. when the "nice" one will leave the baby will follow. the other male, meiko, kept following him around and made chattering noise, which is negative. i want them all to get along, but did i do something wrong or was it just all in a rush?

  1. I've heard from several people that keeping males together is difficult. They're usually okay if you get them together when they're young, but when they grow up and reach maturity, they get territorial and fight. It might take a while for them to get along, but don't force it on them, and never leave them together unsupervised.

  2. You will need a  PVC pipe small enough for the baby to hide in and sleep so it can get away from the older pigs.  Make sure that there are 3 food bowls & 3 water sources so the baby can drink & eat without the more dominant pigs 'hogging' the food & water.

If you are not comfortable with leaving the baby in with the older boars, separate them & introduce them again in the morning in the neutral territory.

You may have to divide the cage into 2 parts so they can interact safely with a divider inbetween them.
