Question:

Adding another mouse, or even hamster?

So, a week ago I just got three adorable pet female mice. I've decided it might be fun to get another one, but I heard that you can't add new mice to an all male community, so I was wondering, is it the same with female mice? Note that I only keep female mice, no male mice.

Also, would it be safe to maybe add a hamster?

  1. It is possible, but you need to do it slowly.

I have never had to introduce mice, but the split cage method suggested for gerbils might provide some help.

If they are young enough they may accept her without a problem.

Hamsters are solitary creatures by nature. When introduced even to a sibling they have always lived with, they will fight to the death... Syrians, that is. Dwarf hamster can get along with their own kind if introduced correctly, but not necessarily other animals.

Also, they have a different diet.

Adding a hamster to a group of mice is... pretty much a bad idea. :[
