I have a philips hts 3500s and i want to add another subwoofer to my setup. My sumwoofer is 100watts my center speaker is 100watts and my surround speakers are 75watts. So do i just plug the wires from the new sub into the old sub port, like doubling them up. Also what does draining your amp mean.

  1. You probably cannot do this.

A  "system" like this is usually not expandable meaning you cannot hook up other speakers or BluRay/HD Cable box into these.

Subwoofers take a HUGE amount of power compared to the other speakers (this is why self-powered subwoofers are so common).  Just adding a second un-powered subwoofer to your system will likely try and pull too much power from the cute DVD player and burn it out.

Lack of expandability is one of the things you gave up buying a all-in-one system.
