Adding friends on facebook?

if you request someone to be your friend on facebook and they reject you, are you notified? any help would be appreciated

Nope, you're not notified. But if you look them up again and are able to click the "Add as friend" link, then you've been rejected. If your request is just sitting on their home page and they haven't done anything with it yet, when you click the "Add as friend" link, you'll get a pop-up that says you already friend requested them.
