Question:

Adding ph minus to pool every week

Our ph tends to be a little high in our above ground pool (27' round) and we have to add ph minus every week or two to keep it in the proper range. My husband feels that once it is down it should stay that way and we shouldn't have to keep adding it. He feels that there is something wrong with the product if we keep having to add it. I think he's wrong and it is ok to keep having to add it, the same as we keep having to add the blast and mineral packs every week or two. This is our first year with the pool. Any experts on this subject?

  1. if you are sing a high PH product such as calcium hypochlorite that could be the reason

  2. I was having this same problem and a friend recommended that I use a product called "Pool Perfect w/ Phos Free".  It has really helped.  We have the same size pool.  All I do is make sure there is chlorine in the automatic chlorinator, put pool perfect in once a week, and shock it once a week.  I live in Texas where it is really hot and don't have a prob w/ algea or cloudiness.
