  1. work from the bottom

    (((1+3)*2+2)*2+1)*2 = 42

  2. I worked it out back the front and got the same answer as the previous person named greg Yeah!!

  3. $42, try working backwards...

    $1 + $3 FOR THE SUNDAE = $4

Double it for the book she bought, $8

Ad $2 for the tip = $10 and double for lunch = $20

Add $1 for the beggar = $21 and double for the hat= $42

  4. 1 + 3= 4

    4 x 2= 8

    8 + 2= 10

    10 x 2= 20

    20 + 1 =21

    21 x 2 = 42

    SHe had 2 $20 and 2 $1.

    I just basically worked backwards.
