Question:

Additional Eva Judkins info?

Eva Judkins told the family she was Blackfeet and she looks Native American. Her relatives living on the reservation (which we don't where that is) performed ceremonies with the snakes. My grandfather, Eva's son told the family she was 4/4 Blackfeet. My grandmother witnessed one of the snake ceremonies. My mother was a little girl when they would go to the reservation in Maine to visit his mother's family. She only remembers her mother refusing to get out of the car because she was afraid of the snakes kept in cages by the driveway. My grandfather also looked Native American. Eva's Native American ethnicity is well know by the family. I would be interested in receiving emails from her ancestors. Her sons have all passed, but perhaps some of her brothers and sisters families are still alive and could fill in some gaps for me.

This is a valid list of reservations in Maine, with locations.

You already have extensive census records that verify she and her family are from Maine, for several generations.

I don't dispute that she may have seen ceremonies or such, concerning family members.  However, all the documents found to date, do not support any connection to the Blackfoot tribe (who are mainly in Montana).  My personal thinking is that she was of another tribe, if any tribe at all.  The records just don't verify this.

  2. There is more than one in Maine.  What were her dates?  Is Judkins her maiden or married name?

I am pretty sure you won't get any emails from her ancestors.  Descendants, maybe.

The Blackfeet Indian Reservation or Blackfeet Nation is an Indian reservation of the Blackfeet tribe in MONTANA in the United States. It is located east of Glacier National Park and borders Canada to the north. Cut Bank Creek and Birch Creek make up part of its eastern and southern borders. The reservation contains 6,142.011 km² (2,371.444 sq mi), half again the size of the national park and larger than the size of the state of Delaware. It is located in parts of Glacier and Pondera Counties. Official tribal website is http://www.blackfeetnation.com.

Are you positive she was a Blackfeet member?  The only tribe I found listed in Maine was the Penobscot Indians (Panawahpskek), a sovereign people indigenous to what is now Maritime Canada and the northeastern United States, particularly Maine. .

The Penobscot Indian Island Reservation is surrounded by the waters of the Penobscot River, in Penobscot County, Maine. Penobscot Indian Island Reservation is an Indian reservation for the Penobscot tribe in Penobscot County, Maine, United States near OLD TOWN.**
