  1. Tinker B, I recommend an online insurance quote. It's free and quick to do. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Free-Aut...

  2. In the US the insurance follows the car not the driver, if the car insurance is limited then the insurance the driver may have on another vehicle may be suffice. If you driver your partners car and they have insurance and you wreck it, if you are listed on their insurance as a listed driver the insurance will cover. If you are not listed they can legally deny the claim and not fix anyones car. If you are listed but the insurance only has so much $$$ to pay out say the accident was your fault, then the other insurance company will pursue damages through you and your insurance company once the partners insurance company has reached their max.

  3. you can get a multi car discount from most insurance companies...if you insure both with the same company.

  4. If you drive one car, your quotes for another one will go down.

You can easily compare how your quotes will change in internet, for example here: http://carquotes.imess.net

  5. yes. if you have been driving as a named driver on someone elses policy and you get proof of this, then they will give you an introductory discount,

  6. If you quote the car reg, to them they will have all the current insurance details on their shared database. I assume you are listed in some way on your partner's insurance i.e. as a named driver. If not you are not covered anyway.

  7. Usually they ask, as if you insure more than one car with them it makes it cheaper.
