Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has welcomed the permanent signing of last season’s on loan player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 and is relieved to have sorted out his striker issues.
Spurs had struggled with a striker signing ever since Adebayor went back to Manchester City after his season long loan at White Hart Lane. The Togolese forward had been impressive for Spurs after bagging 17 goals in 33 Premier League appearances, and had
become a local favourite at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham only had http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international had earlier stated that he may be forced to move away from White Hart Lane if not given sufficient first team action with the team.
The player had been primarily used as an impact substitute last season, but had managed to score important goals for the club. Defoe had been impressive in Spurs' 2-1 defeat to Newcastle last week as he scored the equalizer to cancel out Demba Ba’s impressive
opener.
Villas-Boas however revealed that he intends on holding on to the English striker and will not be investing in any more striker signings after acquiring Adebayor.
The manager expressed his delight at landing the Togolese forward and described him as ‘one of the family’. The player’s move to White Hart Lane looked to be in doubt after considerable issues with his transfer. Reports suggested that Adebayor was not willing
to take a pay cut in his wages in moving to North London, but a deal was finally agreed this week.
Adebayor’s arrival solves many problems for Spurs, as they now have two capable and prolific forwards in their squad. Villas-Boas expressed his relief in an interview with Spur’s official website yesterday and said:
"He had an extremely good season here last season and it's almost like he already belongs to the family. It’s pretty clear what he can do for us."
Tottenham will face West Bromwich Albion in today’s Premier League clash at White Hart Lane. Fresh from their opening day defeat, Spurs will be eyeing all three points as Villas-Boas targets a flying start to his Tottenham career.
