Tottenham Hotspur striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, but insists that he can’t change the way he plays.
The Togolese had scored against his former club within 10 minutes, and had sent the travelling Tottenham fans into a state of frenzy. Adebayor however quickly went from hero to zero as he got sent off following a rash and mistimed tackle on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santi-Cazorla-c32505.
Many had deemed the tackle to be deliberate and malicious, as Adebayor had clearly gone in with his studs up and leg outstretched. His sending out proved to be the turning point of the game as Arsenal eventually conquered Spurs by scoring 5 goals.
Adebayor had yesterday apologized to the Tottenham fans, his manager and his teammates for leaving them a man short and costing them such an important game. The player also defended himself, and insisted that he had only mistimed his challenge and that there
was no hint of malice or intent.
Now, the Togolese has taken the spotlight once again, and has said that he’ll be more careful in the future, but he can’t change the way he plays.
The striker said that he will always give it his all, and approach the game with his usual flair and tenacity. Speaking to reporters, Adebayor said:
“I can’t change who I am or how I play the game. I will always go for it; I will never hide or be too afraid to get stuck in. Looking back at the tackle, yes it was rash. But equally, nobody can accuse me of ducking out, or not wanting to give it my all
to try to help Tottenham.”
“I will reflect long and hard on what I could have done differently because in the end my enthusiasm went too far. I have to accept responsibility for that. But my game is about passion and heart and I will never stop giving everything.”
The defeat against Arsenal marks Tottenham’s third consecutive loss in the Premier League, and has dealt a considerable blow to their top 4 ambitions. Tottenham next play in the Europa League before hosting West Ham United at White Hart Lane on the weekend.
