The Togolese striker had spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane from Manchester City, and had immediately become a local favourite.
After spending 4 years at fierce local rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Adebayor secured a move to Manchester City. The striker had an impressive first season, but fell down the pecking order as City spent millions to strengthen their squad.
Adebayor spent a winter-loan spell with Spanish giants Real Madrid, and returned to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 when the 2010/2011 season ended. The striker was then shipped off to Tottenham next for a season long loan.
After scoring so many goals against Spurs, Adebayor quickly turned from villain to hero as he bagged 17 league goals in 33 appearances. New manager Andre Villas-Boas was keen to sign the striker on a permanent deal, and succeeded in doing so this summer.
The Togolese international had received a muscular injury when the current season started, but is now back in contention for a starting spot in the team.
He faces competition from the in-form Jermain Defoe, but will be a welcome sight for Villas-Boas as Spurs continue their winning run in the league.
The player is looking to bounce back from his injury and wants to help Defoe in becoming the league’s top goal scorer. The 28-year old spoke about his excitement at returning to the team before yesterday's game against Villa and said:
"We've got a good team and a good squad.”

"As for Jermain, I have huge respect for him and he knows this already. I've told him that if I can come back and make him the top goal scorer in the League then I'm happy to do that. It would be my pleasure to help him score more goals.

"I am not a selfish player, I want to share and hopefully he will be the man who will score to give us victory over [Aston] Villa.”
Tottenham will host league leaders http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 once the Premier League resumes after this week’s international break, and Villas-Boas will be targeting a 5th consecutive victory as he prepares his side to face the European champions.
