Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is expected to hand striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 a start in tonight’s Europa League game against Slovenian side Maribor.
After considerable speculation regarding the player’s future at the club, the manager has laid all claims and rumours to rest by stating that Adebayor remains very much an important part of his plans for Tottenham.
The player made a permanent move to White Hart Lane this season after a loan spell last term from English champions Manchester City. Adebayor settled well at the club, and scored 17 goals in the Premier League last season.
His form led Andre Villas-Boas to make him a high priority target during the summer, and the Togolese finally completed a £5 million move towards the end of the summer transfer window.
Villas-Boas also insists that he has no intention of selling or loaning the Togolese out in the January transfer window. Speaking to reporters, he hailed the Togolese as 'one of the best strikers in the world'. The manager said:
"There is no interest in selling or loaning him. Unfortunately, it has not been working out for him this season because of injuries, but he is an important player.”
The forward is expected to be handed his first start for the club tonight against Maribor, and the Spurs boss is keen on his players recovering from the weekend’s shock 0-1 defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic.
The manager remains confident that his side can manage a result and progress through to the next stage of the competition. With many key players returning from injury, Villas-Boas is optimistic about his side’s recovery. He added:
“Against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 and Moussa Dembele and we gave them a run for their money even though they were on an amazing run."
"We played well against Southampton and Norwich without good players due to injuries. Good players are missed, but I don’t think it has affected the tempo and dynamic of the team.”
The manager has also confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 will also start tonight against Maribor, and has stressed on the importance of tonight’s game and a good result.
