Tottenham Hotspur striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 expressed his confidence that Spurs will make it into the Champions League next season, and remained hopeful that he could finish his one year spell at the White Hart Lane on a high note.
The 28 year old player came to the North London side on loan for a one year spell from Manchester City. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 International is set to return to Eastland at the end of the season.
However, Adebayor has played an important part in the Spurs resurrection, and has scored 14 times for his side in the ongoing season. Harry Redknapp’s side are currently eyeing a place in the Champions League next season, and have made it into the semi-final
of the FA Cup.
The prolific striker admitted that he had set himself the target of finishing in the top four, before coming to White Hart Lane, and was pleased to see his side do well in the FA Cup.
In an interview with a TV Channel, he said, "For me my target before coming to join Tottenham was to get in to the top four and we are in a good position to do that now."
"We are in the FA Cup semi-final as well…why not win the FA Cup as well?"
On Sunday, Tottenham recorded their first win in seven weeks, after beating Swansea City 3-1 at White Hart Lane. With pressure mounting on the Spurs before the match, Adebayor admitted that the win came as a huge relief for his team. The Swans scored the
equalizer during the game and the striker lauded his side for their aggressive response, after conceding the goal.
“When Swansea pulled it back to 1-1 it was quite difficult, but in the head we have a good squad, we have belief,"
The win kept the Spurs in the fourth place in the table, and helped them secure a five point lead over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Newcastle United. The striker insisted that his side needed to capitalize on their advantage, by aiming to win the remainder of their games.
“It was very important for everyone, for the players and the fans, and hopefully now we will go on a good run until the end of the season."
Tottenham will play three of their remaining seven matches at home, and will play Sunderland in their next game at the Stadium of Lights. The Londoner’s face a relatively easy run-in to the season, having already played both of their league matches against
the top three teams and Chelsea. Their season will culminate at the White Hart Lane on the 13th of May, when they will take on Fulham.
On the 15th of April, the Spurs will meet Chelsea in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
