Last season’s on-loan Togolese striker and number one Tottenham Hotspur target http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 has threatened to pull out of his proposed move to White Hart Lane from the Eastlands.
Sources in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 state that the striker has refused to leave Manchester City for Tottenham Hotspur, despite the success he enjoyed there during his season-long loan spell last campaign.
It is reported that the striker wants to ‘punish’ the Premier League champions for having wasted his services since he moved there from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 back in 2009.
It is also believed that the striker was offered a very handsome salary package that matched the amount of £170,000-a-week he currently earns at City, but was not interested.
Other sources claim that Adebayor will pull the plug on the transfer unless he is paid the £4 million transfer fee that had been agreed with City. Spurs were reportedly ready to match City’s £170,000-a-week salary and had also included a bonus signing-on
fee of £5 million. This figure was however lowered to £4 million after further negotiations between both clubs.
The 28-year old striker had enjoyed a very successful loan spell at White Hart Lane, scoring 17 goals in 33 appearances. Adebayor quickly became a fan favourite and settled in at White Hart Lane. The Togolese is believed to be a priority signing for Spurs
manager Andre Villas-Boas, who is currently under-staffed in the striker department.
Currently, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giovani-dos-Santos-c14983, but his future is currently uncertain. Villas-Boas hopes to sign a target man and first choice striker as
soon as possible so that is squad is complete and ready to compete in the coming season.
While the transfer looked imminent, some unexpected developments have taken place and it is understood that Adebayor is now refusing to leave City.
“He wants to punish Manchester City for how he thinks they have treated him,” an inside source told the media. “He wants a free transfer and has told them that if he doesn’t get it he will stay at Manchester City for two more years.”
Adebayor has only made 45 appearances for Manchester City since he moved there from Arsenal and has spent two loan spells outside the club.
