Adelaide Strikers v Brisbane Heat – Big Bash League, 2012/13 – Live Cricket Score and Match Update – Brisbane Heat win last-ball thriller by 3 wickets
The Big Bash League clash between the Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat boiled down to the last ball, and culminated in a nail-biting finish for Heat as they scraped through near the very end, barely managing to claim a 3-wicket win with zero balls remaining,
at the Adelaide Oval today on December 13.
Heat kicked the match off by winning the toss and choosing to field first. Thisara Perera (4-0-27-3), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Cutting-c1132 (4-0-37-2) led the charge against the Strikers, but the hosts managed to work their way up to a final total
of 185.
Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tim-Ludeman-c2672 (18) was similarly unimpressive, and gave his
wicket away to Cutting in the 5th over without putting up much of a fight.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Reardon-c2071 (25) put their team on solid ground with a 56-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Reardon was eventually snapped up by Perera, and by the time Ferguson made his exit, at the hands of Cutting, the Strikers’
total had swelled to 116 by the 15th over.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/J-Botha-c1610 (18*) kept the team’s innings moving forward with a 47-run partnership for the 6th wicket. Pollard was eventually snapped up by Perera, but Botha remained unbeaten.
He was unable to find any consistent batsmen to partner with, but after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kane-Richardson-c1765 (4) made their exits – the former off McDermott, and the latter off Perera – the small contributions had gotten the Strikers up to 180. A final
effort from Botha and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-Boyce-c1213 (1*) enabled the hosts to post a final total of 185, by the end of 20 overs.
Brisbane Heat, meanwhile, started off well, with a 65-run contribution from opener and Player of the Match http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joe-Burns-c67125 joined Pomersbach for a 99-run stand. Following
the dismissals of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Lynn-c1246 contributing 19, and Cutting registering 13.
By the final over, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stewart-Jonathan-Walters-c91389 ensued, and four runs were required off the final ball. Hartley played
the final shot, and while both batsmen ran three singles off it, replays revealed the ball had touched the boundary rope before Ferguson fielded it, making it a four which won Brisbane Heat the match by 3 wickets, with zero balls remaining.
