Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Renegades – Big Bash League – Match Recap
Adelaide Strikers took a comfortable victory over Melbourne Renegades by 67 runs in a match of the Big Bash Twenty20 League at the Adelaide Oval in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 on Sunday, December 18, 2011.
The hosts batted first and scored 189 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The team’s opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Harris-c1310 was the top scorer of the innings with 49 runs at the top of the order.
In reply, the Renegades came no way near to the target set by the opposition and were all out for 122 runs in 17.5 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-McDonald-c1042, skipper of the visitors, won the toss and decided to field first. He expected the batsmen to struggle a bit in the first half of the match, but things turned out to be the other way round.
Strikers went off to a terrific start, as their openers Harris and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Klinger-c76093 put on 86 runs for the first wicket. They attacked the opposition right from the start of the match and put the bowlers under immense pressure.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 was the first man to be dismissed in the innings after contributing 49 runs to the total. He played aggressively, smashing five fours and a couple of thunderous sixes, but would have liked to score a half-century, which he just missed by one run.
Just 11 runs later, Klinger was also sent back to the pavilion. He also missed out on an opportunity to score a fifty, but did his job by scoring 46 runs with the help of four fours and one massive six.
Despite the fall of two quick wickets, Strikers kept on scoring runs freely, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CJ-Ferguson-c1264 put together 40 runs for the third wicket partnership. The former was dismissed after scoring a useful 30 runs from 18 deliveries, smashing
two fours and the same number of sixes.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-Borgas-c1212 was impressive towards the end of the innings, hammering 28 runs from just nine deliveries. His powerful hitting led the side to 189 runs in the end.
Most of the Renegades’ bowlers were expensive, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Heal-c882 managed to pick up a couple of wickets in the end.
The visitors’ batting was unimpressive, as only three batsmen managed to reach double figures. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-John-Buchanan-c76004 were the other two players to score in double figures.
They contributed 35 and 11 to the total respectively.
Star all-rounders from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 failed to make an impression, getting dismissed for nine and one respectively.
The home team’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kane-Richardson-c1765 bagged three wickets, restricting the opposition to 122 in 17.5 overs.
