has anyone tried to wake up their kid earlier than school and go running or some other equally tiring activity for a half hour or more? does this help?

does anyone else believe that children with adhd just have more energy and schools (considering the amount of children with add) should accomdate these children (or ALL children) with MORE RECESS throughout the day, particulary at the begining of the school day... PARTICULARLY in elementary school but also more physical activity during middle and highschool as well.

perhaps some dietary changes as well.

  1. adhd and add isn't simply too much physical energy. Its both physical energy and mental energy. Their minds and body are not entertained. Many things can contribute to the behaviors of these types of children. The best thing that helped my son is that we talked about it. things like letting him know that he needed to understand himself and that you knew also. You know that he had trouble doing somethings but he can figure out how to do them. Only he can do it, and he can do it. As in control himself with practice. But basically |I think your question is wondering if kids with add and adhd can be helped more at school with more physical activity and diet changes..sure it helps any child. but mental stimulation is also a huge part of it. And less medications should be a goal of all parents and teachers...easy isnt always better.

  2. It will depend on the severity of your child's ADHD. It would work for me but I know that it would not have worked for my brother. It is still worth a try but of course. Medication should be a last resort because it's not the perfect solution either. My brother is doing a lot better now. But when he first began taking medication, it was a tough adjustment. There are the side effects.
