Adi Pratama casts out Jeffer Rosobin from 2013 Victor Walikota Surabaya Cup
The young but spirited shuttler Adi Pratama remained invincible in the semi-final round of Victor Walikota Surabaya Cup and qualified for the title match on Thursday, May 9, 2013.
This Men’s Singles semi-final tussle pit him against Jeffer Rosobin who showed great fighting spirit for 45 minutes.
Both contenders remained head-to-head for three gruelling sets and this nerve-racking encounter ended with decisive figures of 23-21, 11-21 and 21-17.
Adi managed to lock the honour by prevailing in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the opposing shuttler could rise on his toes just in the second set.
In first set of the match, both shuttlers challenged each other in all departments of game and made this segment a memorable contest.
They made every effort in the establishing rallies to gain an early advantage but neither of them could tip the scale in his favour.
They stood toe-to-toe all the way to half time and finished first half of the set with an edgy score position.
After the mid-game break, both contenders did not allow each other to enjoy a permanent lead until third quarter of the set. However, Adi managed to strike hard when it mattered and won this crucial set with 23-21 total.
In the following game, it was Jeffer’s turn to rule the court and he did not give his rival even a single counterattack opportunity.
He started the beating from very stroke and maintained that upper hand until the last shot was played.
On the other hand, Adi looked completely out of touch as he kept trailing behind on the points table. He made every effort to counterbalance the situation but finally surrendered after reading the concluding figure if 11-21.
The decider became crucial after this development as both Men’s Singles expert were standing equal. They put all they had to pocket this final match point and kept the audience glued to their chairs until the final moments.
This cliff-hanging tussle reached to its climax when Adi swept the table with favourable score of 21-17. With this victory, he setup a title match with Febryan Irvannaldi.
