Adil Anwar grabs victory at second edition of Prizefighter Light Welterweights II – Boxing news
Adil Anwar grabbed a unanimous points victory over Tyrone Nurse in the final fight of the Prizefighter Light Welterweights II at Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall.
Both the fighters remained unbeaten throughout the tournament until the final stage saw Nurse giving in to Anwar.
As of now, Adil Anwar has gained the much needed momentum and confidence and is now planning on to hit a British title. Both the fighters, Nurse and Anwar, has shown superior boxing skills throughout the tournament, which made it quite difficult to predict
a winner.
On Nurse’s fighting capabilities, Amir iterated, “Tyrone is a good operator but I was a lot faster and a lot slicker. The jab was the secret tonight and now I want to test myself against the bigger names. I won the English Welterweight title under the radar
and I’ve been avoided. Now I have won Prizefighter live on Sky Sports – without getting out of second gear – I’ve shown I bring a lot to the table.”
The 23rd edition of Matchroom Sport was a single night tournament with the title on line along with a check of £32,000 to the winner. Anwar, the Platinum Kid, came with some surprising shots in the final making Nurse look like the inferior one in the ring.
Overall, his jabs were surprising not just to Nurse but even to the judges and fans who were expecting the fight to be a well-balanced one.
On his victory, Anwar added that he came up with his best because he wanted to make sure he shined bright by doing what he has not done ever in his career. He further added that even though he saw the whole fight and his strategy as a risk, he was confident
he would make it through. He added that he wants to fight Ashley Theophane, but on the whole he does not really care who is opponent is since he knows what he has in him and how to use it.
Lastly, Anwar said this was his first televised performance and so he had to do something that would make him stand tall among others.
