http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adil-Usman-Rashid-c42011 bowls Yorkshire to victory against Lancashire: Friends Life Twenty20 – First Innings Recap
A sensational spell of bowling from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 by 11 runs in a match of the Friends Life Twenty20, at the Headingley, Leeds in England, on Friday, June 17, 2011.
The hosts managed 178 runs in their allotted 20 overs and bowled the Lancashire team out for just 167 runs in 19.1 overs. The match could have been even more interesting if the visitors kept wickets intact, which they failed to do.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-John-Croft-c91308, the skipper of Lancashire, opted to field first after winning the toss. He expected the pitch to become easier in the second half of the game, but his decision didn’t turn out to be a good one in the end, as the wicket became good for the spinners
with the passage of time.
Yorkshire’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Gale-c1039, opened the innings alongside wicketkeeper batsman, Jonny Bairstow. The pair gave a solid start to their team, scoring 69 runs for the first wicket partnership. They attacked the bowlers and played fearless cricket before
the latter got out. He collected 32 runs off just 19 deliveries with the help of five fours and one massive six.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Lyth-c922, the home team’s first-drop, walked out in the middle to join his captain and the pair continued to dominate the bowlers. They put together 65 runs for the second wicket partnership before Gale was finally dismissed after scoring a terrific half-century.
The stylish left-handed batsman ended up with 60 runs off 46 balls with the help of six fours and one six. He played steadily at the start of the innings, as Bairstow was attacking from the other end. However, Gale lifted his run-rate towards the end of
the innings and ended up being the top scorer of the match.
Lyth also played brilliantly, but missed out on a half-century. He collected 45 runs from 33 deliveries, striking three fours and one towering six. He got dismissed in the death overs, in an attempt to lift the innings run-rate.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 for the opposition in the end.
The visitors’ bowling looked vulnerable, as they concede plenty of runs. However, England’s fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sajid-Mahmood-c88005, did a terrific job for his side. He picked up one wicket and gave away just 20 runs in his four overs.
However, Mahmood lacked support from the other end, which allowed the home team to post a decent target.
