Adil Rashid to replace Michael Yardy in England’s 2011 World Cup squad – ICC World Cup 2011
Adil Rashid has been approved by the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Event Technical Committee to come in as a replacement for Michael Yardy.
According to a statement by the ICC, “The confirmation was conveyed to the England and Wales Cricket Board on behalf of the committee on Thursday. Yardy was withdrawn from the England squad suffering from depression and has consequently returned to the United
Kingdom.”

The leg spinner has represented his country in five One Day Internationals and had his debut for the Poms back in August 2009. He has taken three wickets at an average of 63.66 and scored 60 runs from his three innings.
Earlier, Michael Yardy withdrew his name from the national side just 48 hours before their crucial quarter-finals encounter with Sri Lanka at Colombo. The all-rounder was suffering from severe depression and could not stay any longer in the sub-continent.
