Adilson Da Silva shines at Sun City Challenge – Golf News
Adilson Da Silva of Brazil overcame difficult playing conditions at the Lost City Golf Course to record a one-stroke victory at the Sun City Challenge.
Da Silva carded a two-under par 70 in the final round to claim the 12th Sunshine Tour victory of his career.
Throughout the week, the playing conditions offered tough challenge to the participants and it was really difficult to create birdie chances.
During the final round, the wind gusts added difficulty to the course, however, the Brazilian star kept the momentum going and managed to post a nine-under par tournament score.
Talking to the reporters after raising the trophy, he said that he was a bit confused on different holes about which club to use. According to him, maintaining accuracy was really difficult, which in turn, forced him to make some
mistakes in the final round.
At the same time, other players in the field were also having the same problem and Da Silva comfortably took home the prestigious title.
“The wind was everywhere out there, and those bogeys came simply from not knowing which club to use,” said Adilson, who compiled a winning total of nine-under-par 207.
He also said that his mental coach Dave Beattie also played a key role in his success in the tournament. According to him, Beattie helped him focusing on his strengths and bringing consistency in his game.
“I’ve been working really hard on the mental side of the game. I know my swing is good, all thanks to my coach John Dixon, but the work that I’ve been doing with my mental coach, Dave Beattie is starting to make a difference,”
added the Brazilian.
About a fortnight ago, he participated in the Asian Tour’s Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters and contended against some of the big names in the world of golf.
Despite the strong field that he was facing, he managed to record a 11th place finish, which is considerably a great effort for a Sunshine Tour player.
He is now planning to keep the momentum going into the upcoming events and add more titles to his tally.
