Aditya Joshi wins Boy’s Singles U17 crown to steal limelight at All India Junior Ranking Tournament
Aditya Joshi, a young and passionate shuttler from India, stole the limelight as he claimed Boy’s Singles U17 crown after putting up phenomenal show against his higher ranked opponent Harsheel Dani in the title match of All India Junior Ranking Tournament
2012 in India, on Monday, August 6.
The spirited Aditya, who was the second seed in Boy’s Singles U17 main draw in the tournament, was in complete control of rallies and he remained successful in registering a spectacular win over the top seeded Harsheel in an elevated fashion.
The lower ranked Aditya showed wonderful control in his shots throughout the battle and he proved his worth by playing aggressive and positive badminton which helped him to end up the match in straight games in 45 minutes.
The higher ranked Harsheel, on the other hand, showed his aggression on court but he failed to match the speed and tempo of his rival and lost the battle in two sets with a close margin on the score board.
The opening set was entertaining when both spirited players displayed their aggressive skills on court while playing attacking shots. They were positive on court and remained close on score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Aditya put in extra effort to take lead as he increased his speed at net and also executed powerful smashing by finding perfect angles.
The positive and attacking play of the lower ranked Aditya helped him to remain ahead on the score board at the ending phase and he took the first set by a reasonable 21-18 score on the board.
In the following set, Harsheel also showed his class as he played with precision and did not let Aditya to set up a reasonable lead until the mid-game break.
After the one-minute interval, both shuttlers played at the same level and reached at the ending points when Aditya executed a few impressive strokes in right areas and took the set with a tight score of 21-19.
The in-form Aditya emerged as the title winner by ending up the final contest in two games with a 21-18 and 21-19 score on the board.
